Sometimes Funny Stories, With Pictures Galleries

Ice Skating :
November 29th and 30th, 2008--Ice skating in Tupelo. What would be an after Thanksgiving tradition, except we only have ice about once every four years.

For those that didn't (couldn't) stick around for the fun, you missed out! Maybe next year...or in 2012.

The Kids First Skiing Lessons :
In late May, we headed to Meridian to ski with Brian Mathis and his family- For most of the kids, this was their first time to try and ski--but they all did very well. Everyone that tried managed to ski quite well!

It was a blast!

As for the pictures, this is about 50 of the best...in chronological order, with some highly detailed and accurate descriptions of the day's events... There has been no exaggeration or creative leisure taken in the assembly of this gallery...and, I did not type that sarcastically. This is purely a journalistic endeavor, and we strive to demonstrate only strict journalistic integrity.

If you do want to see the entire day's pics, start here: Skiing, May 2008 Gallery (password required), but only after browsing these...this might be enough for you. :)

Flywheel Festival :
So for some strange reason (I think it was Jill's suggestion), we decided to go to Houston, MS for the annual Flywheel Festival. I don't really even know what we expected, but when we got there, it wasn't even close... We barely stayed long enough to walk around one time- We did manage to hit the playground on the way out...which is where most of these pics are from-

There are a few more, here, but these are the best.

The quality is not great on some of them because I didn't have batteries for a flash, and had to make some exposure adjustments after the fact-

Jill's Birthday Trip to NYC :
A few pics to remember Jill's Christmas/Birthday trip to NYC, May 2008. So as not to bore anyone with your basic, run of the mill NYC pics, there are a couple of other galleries for that:

#1: Pictures taken at the MoMA

The Leaf Raking Saga :
Generally speaking, I'd probably pass on a picto-story about a 6, 7, 9, and 10 year old who wanted to rake a yard full of leaves. But at the end of the day, after looking at all the pictures and recalling the day's events, we all laughed so hard I couldn't help but post it. If you've already read the condensed version on my daily album, don't worry, there's many more details here that I just didn't have room for over there.

How did all this start...well, Ryan (Alex's friend in the gray shirt) says to Alex: "We should rake up all these leaves, make a huge pile, and get in the Guinness Book of World Records." Exact words, as best I can remember. So they start. Trevor says "Oooooohh, I'll help.", because he has to be a part of everything--particularly when it involves World Records!! I'll go on and tell you, the three of them raked the entire yard (which is really cool, I might add). And that's where our story begins...

A Christmas Tree Farm Adventure :
Our trip to the Christmas tree farm, December 8, 2007.
So I guess I should give just a little background: Basically, it's Christmas, and we needed a tree.
There's always been this cool tree farm where we could get them, but they closed last year, and we had to find another place. So we found this one, which is about an hour away. I doubt we go back to this particular tree farm because the selection is pretty slim. The story begins about two minutes after arriving. Well, maybe 12 minutes after. The first 10 minutes were spent listening to the guy tell us about the farm-which of course is funny, because you could see the entire thing from the parking lot. He was a super nice guy, though, as was the rest of his staff. Both of 'em.
